Location: Greengate, Manchester

Duration – 3 Months Temporary to Permanent if successful.

Shifts: Early & Afternoon: Mon to Thu 06.00-14.00/14.00-22.00, Fri 06.00-12.00/12.00-06.00

*3rd shift = night shift: Mon to Thu 22.00-06.00, Fri TBC

Pay Rate: £19.33 p/hr for 2 shifts – *Possible 3 shifts = £19.55 p/hr.

*Please note the night shift is a possibility not a must

Job Description
As CNC Machinist, Greengate Business Unit, you will be responsible for using expert knowledge to operate and control numerically controlled (CNC) machines. Where feasible use knowledge of relevant programming languages and input them into CNC machines for production, while ensuring products have precise and accurate measurements. You will be keen to take on challenges, develop your leadership and or skills potential as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Responsible for producing quality parts on CNC machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
-Perform set-up changes, operate and conduct first article inspections on production runs.
Load parts utilising overhead lifting equipment, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, de-burring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
-Identify problems prior to production runs, then start and observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
-Read engineering drawings, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements.
-Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.
-Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
-Perform any other work related tasks and duties in accordance with the business needs
-Comply with all NOV Company, Quality + HSE policies and procedures.
-Travel as and when required
-Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
-Must have served a recognized apprenticeship with CNC disciplines.

Qualifications:
Essential
-Time Served apprenticeship within a CNC machinist discipline, equivalent to either City and Guilds Level 3, or NVQ Level 3
Desirable
-ONC/HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering.

Experience:
Essential
-Operating a variety of CNC machines
-Familiar in working within a high productivity machine shop environment.
Desirable
-4+ years
-Manual Machining Experience
-Multi Axis CNC Machining Experience

Skills, training or special knowledge:
Essential
-Operating a variety of CNC machines
-Computer literacy
-Manual handling, slinging and lifting
-HSE awareness
Desirable
-CNC programming knowledge on Mazatrol and Fanuc controls
-Multi Axis CNC Machining Experience

Quality Assurance:
-Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.
-Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.

Training:
-Participate in training where required.

Health, Safety and Environment:
-Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training and instruction.
-To be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to the HSE representative.
