Job Summary

The Quality Technician will support the Senior Quality Technician in ensuring that all food products manufactured by the company meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, and legal compliance. This role is responsible for verifying that all products adhere to customer specifications and regulatory requirements before release for dispatch.

 

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and encourage safe working practices at all times.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure finished products meet all product, customer, and legal specifications before release to dispatch.
  • Manage daily product inspections using the QAD system, including product releasing, holds, and regrind functions.
  • Conduct raw material intake checks, including sample collection, allergen testing, and sending samples to external laboratories.
  • Perform daily quality checks on finished goods, including frying snack pellets and cooking pasta.
  • Prepare samples for taste panels and support sensory evaluation activities.
  • Complete all relevant documentation for audits and maintain accurate records.

Environmental & GMP

  • Carry out environmental swabbing of production lines and designated areas in accordance with Environmental Management Procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, GMP, and food safety across all areas of responsibility.

 

Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role, ideally within the food industry.
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
  • High level of personal accountability and responsibility.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident communicator across all levels of the business.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.

Desirable

  • Level 2 HACCP qualification (preferred but not essential).
