Packing Operative

job description

Job Purpose

To efficiently and accurately pack products for dispatch, ensuring all items are prepared, labeled, and packaged to meet quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick and pack orders according to company procedures and customer requirements.

  • Inspect products for quality, ensuring damaged or defective items are identified and reported.

  • Label, weigh, and prepare parcels for dispatch, ensuring accurate documentation.

  • Operate packaging equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area in compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

  • Assist with stock control, including counting and replenishing packaging materials.

  • Follow instructions from supervisors and contribute to a smooth and efficient production/warehouse process.

  • Report any issues with stock, equipment, or processes to the supervisor.

Skills & Competencies

  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous packing, warehouse, or production experience preferred but not essential.

  • Basic awareness of Health & Safety practices is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Capable of lifting and carrying moderate weights safely.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse or production environment.

Other Information

  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn where required.

  • Commitment to company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
