Cleaning Operative – Industrial Warehouse

About the Role

We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operative to join a busy industrial warehouse environment based in Great Yarmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety within a fast-paced workplace. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the warehouse, production areas, and shared facilities are maintained to a high standard, creating a clean, safe, and efficient working environment for all employees.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, have a strong attention to detail, and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cleaning Operative, your duties will include:

  • Carrying out general cleaning duties throughout the industrial warehouse environment.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across warehouse areas, production spaces, offices, welfare facilities, and communal areas.
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning floors, walkways, and working areas.
  • Cleaning machinery, equipment, workstations, and production areas where required.
  • Emptying waste bins and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly.
  • Maintaining clean and tidy staff facilities, including kitchens, toilets, and changing areas.
  • Restocking cleaning supplies and reporting when additional materials are required.
  • Following COSHH guidelines and using cleaning chemicals safely and correctly.
  • Ensuring cleaning equipment is used and stored safely.
  • Supporting the maintenance of a safe working environment by identifying hazards and reporting any concerns.
  • Completing cleaning schedules and checklists accurately.
  • Working closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure cleaning standards are maintained.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable cleaning or housekeeping duties as required.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be reliable, motivated, and take pride in delivering excellent cleaning standards.

You will have:

  • Previous cleaning experience within an industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or commercial environment is desirable but not essential.
  • A good eye for detail and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team.
  • Good timekeeping, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • The ability to follow health and safety procedures and cleaning instructions.
  • Confidence using cleaning equipment and products safely (full training provided).
  • The ability to carry out physical duties, including standing, walking, and manual handling throughout the working day.
