Ad Hoc Chef

Location: Various locations across Great Yarmouth, Caister-on-Sea, Scratby, California, and Hemsby

Job Type: Temporary / Ad Hoc / Seasonal

Hours: Flexible shifts available throughout the summer season, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

About the Role

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable Ad Hoc Chefs to support a variety of hospitality venues across the Great Yarmouth to Hemsby area during the busy summer season.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced chefs looking for flexible work, whether you’re seeking extra hours around your current role or enjoy the variety of working in different kitchens. You’ll have the chance to work with a range of establishments, including restaurants, cafés, pubs, hotels, holiday parks, and event venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present food to a consistently high standard.
  • Work across various kitchen sections as required, including breakfast, lunch, evening service, and functions.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in line with recipes, specifications, and customer expectations.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation.
  • Follow all food safety legislation and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Monitor food quality, stock rotation, and minimise food waste.
  • Assist with stock control, deliveries, and storage of ingredients.
  • Support kitchen teams during busy service periods to ensure smooth operation.
  • Clean down workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas following service.
  • Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Adapt quickly to different kitchens, menus, and working environments.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, dependable, and able to integrate quickly into different kitchen teams.

You will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Chef, Cook, or Chef de Partie within a commercial kitchen.
  • A valid Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential).
  • A good understanding of food safety legislation and allergen awareness.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • A positive, flexible attitude with a willingness to travel to various locations.
  • The ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods.
  • High standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and food presentation.
  • Reliable transport is desirable due to the variety of work locations.
