About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established manufacturing business within a busy production environment. As a Production Operative, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process, ensuring products are assembled, processed, and finished to the highest quality standards while meeting production targets.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing high-quality products safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of production machinery, equipment, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assemble and manufacture products in accordance with production specifications and quality standards.
  • Read and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out production tasks accurately to meet daily output targets and customer deadlines.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects and ensure products meet company specifications.
  • Record production data and complete manufacturing documentation accurately.
  • Prepare finished products for the next stage of production, including packing, labelling, and palletising.
  • Load raw materials and components onto production lines, ensuring materials are readily available.
  • Assist with machine set-up, product changeovers, and basic equipment adjustments where required.
  • Report equipment faults, production issues, or quality concerns promptly to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe production environment in line with Health & Safety procedures and 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assist with stock movement, material handling, and general warehouse duties when required.
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, engineering, and warehouse teams to ensure customer orders are completed on time.
  • Carry out any other production or warehouse duties as required to support business operations.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively within a busy manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, assembly, engineering, or factory environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Good manual dexterity and the ability to use hand tools and production equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • The ability to follow technical instructions, production documentation, and quality procedures.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet production deadlines.
  • A flexible approach with a willingness to support different production areas when required.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
  • Physical fitness to carry out manual handling duties and remain on your feet throughout the working day.
  • A strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and undertake training on machinery and production processes.
  • Flexibility to work overtime during busy production periods when required.

Hours of Work

  • 39.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday: 07:40am – 16:30
  • Friday: 07:40am – 12:45pm

or 

Monday – Thursday 09:40pm-6am
