What Should You Include In Your CV?

Creating your CV can often be overwhelming and prove difficult if you’re unsure what to include. Our step-by-step guide below can help you to incorporate all of the necessary information for future employers.

1. Personal Information

It’s important that you include your name and at least one method of contact in order for potential employers to contact you. We suggest that you provide at least one phone number and a valid email address. If you don’t want to include your full address, you may want to consider adding the town you live in so that employers can see if you are local.

2. Profile

We suggest including a brief description about the type of person you are and what attributes you can bring to employers. Please see an example below.

I am a healthy, hardworking, enthusiastic person who enjoys hands on physical work. I am honest, reliable and work well in a team as well as on my own initiative. I am also a good listener who has the ability to communicate at all levels.

3. Employment History

Starting with your most recent position, you will need to list all of your work experience. You will add the dates you were at the place of work, the company name and your job role. Below each position, you should then give a brief description of the role and details of your duties.

My duties include preparation and paint of woodwork, radiators and ceilings in commercial premises. Hanging of wallpaper, hanging of doors and any finishing required.

 

4. Education & Qualifications

This should include your school history starting with the highest level e.g. Degree, A levels, GCSEs. This should also include any professional training qualifications you have gained such as first aid course and CSCS card. When listing training courses, we suggest you only include those that are still relevant and not expired.
